IMPACT STORY

Impacting lifes

Maria, a single mother of two, had always dreamed of starting her own business but lacked the resources and knowledge to turn her vision into reality. Struggling to make ends meet with her part-time job, Maria’s prospects seemed limited until she discovered AWC’s entrepreneurial programs.
Maria enrolled in AWC’s Small Business Development Center initiative, where she was introduced to a network of mentors and resources designed to support aspiring entrepreneurs. Maria attended workshops on business planning, financial management, and marketing. These sessions equipped her with the essential skills needed to navigate the complexities of starting and running a business.
One pivotal moment in Maria's journey was her participation in AWC’s food incubator program. With a passion for baking, Maria had been selling homemade pastries to friends and neighbors, but the food incubator provided her with the tools, mentorship, and commercial kitchen space necessary to scale her operation, refine her recipes, develop a brand, and learn the intricacies of food safety regulations.
Within a year, Maria launched her own bakery, "Maria’s Delights." The business quickly gained a loyal customer base, and Maria’s pastries became a staple at local farmers' markets and events. Her success story didn’t just end with financial stability; it extended to her personal life as well. Maria’s newfound confidence and entrepreneurial success set a powerful example for her children, teaching them the value of perseverance and hard work.
Today, "Maria’s Delights" employs five people, contributing to the local economy and inspiring other aspiring entrepreneurs in the community.
